Modern Bathroom Accessories

     For a lot of us, our bathrooms have not been remodeled or redesigned in a decade.  We often spend that extra money that we have on improving our kitchen, bathrooms, or living room.  Typically the bathroom is the last place we will spend our money, and it is the one that suffers.

     Think about how much time you spend in your bathroom.  It is what you wake up to every morning, take a shower in, get ready in, of course use the restroom in, and as some say, do your best thinking there.  To improve the overall look of your bathroom and make it more contemporary, you can change some accessories if you do not have much money, or you can go for the whole thing by replacing your vanity, sink, and faucet, as well as your accessories.

     There are so many different styles and designs available for a modern look.  Modern design has become more affordable due to many of these designs being available over the internet. 

     To choose your vanity, first realize that there are so many options out there.  They come in different sizes, shapes, depths, heights, materials, and colors.  When you are choosing your vanity, be sure that it fits in the space you have available, matches the color scheme you have chosen.  When shopping, be sure that you know the space you have for your vanity and what color your walls will be.  Better yet, pick out your vanity first, and then choose your wall color. 

    Next you will need to pick out the sink for your bathroom.  Sinks come in many colors and shapes, and you can basically find a bathroom sink in any color you wish with whatever design you want on it.  When you choose a contemporary sink, be sure to find one that matches your new vanity and the décor of your bathroom.  Your sink and your vanity should look like one solid unit. 

    Now it is time to choose your bathroom faucet.  Believe it or not, faucets do come in different shapes and sizes.  You have many options to choose from.  The vanity and the sink you choose will define the shape, height, and depth of your bathroom faucet. 

      Lighting for your modern bathroom is important.  There are modern lighting fixtures that come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they will give your bathroom a lot of light necessary for a modern bathroom. 

     If you have a shower in your bathroom, you may want to consider a shower that has a sleek, frameless glass shower enclosure.  There are advantages to this, such as using less material and space.  Using glass in other areas of your bathroom may also be a good idea.  The glass accents make the room seem modern and new.  Mirrors are also a good addition, but do not get mirrors that are framed in wood.  Using natural stone on your floors, counters, and walls can also look great in your modern bathroom. 

When Choosing Modern Bathroom Accessories, consider the following:

• Make sure that your bathroom design is modern and matches the rest of your home.  If the rest of your home is decorated in traditional style, then you probably want to keep your bathroom with the same theme throughout the home.
• Streamline your design.  The central idea of modern design is a clean, streamlined look with lots of straight lines and minimalist accessories.  That means you can go with fixtures, furniture, and accessories that have sharp and clean lines that are square or just slightly rounded.
• Use wall hung items in modern design.  Again, be sure not to go overboard.  Modern design is minimalistic.
• Try to find a unique bathtub.  Free standing bathtubs are very modern in design.  There are many different free standing bathtubs available. 
• Choose a vanity and basin that is cutting edge.  Select a basin and vanity that has sleek lines and will modernize your bathroom. 
  

Romantic Bathroom

     Perhaps you are remodeling and would like a romantic bathroom.  Well today the bathroom is no longer a place to just brush your teeth and use the restroom.  Now the master bath has become so integrated with the master bedroom, and it provides a place of comfort and relaxation.

     In order to create a romantic bathroom, you will need the right lighting.  In many cases, the lighting of a room controls the mood.  In a romantic bathroom, you can mix a few different types of lighting so you have a variety of tints.  You can use overhead lights and other wall fixtures, but you also may wish to have underwater lights in your bathtub of different colors.  Additionally, some spa-style showerheads will have built-in mood lighting, so this is a good choice. 

    Accessories in a romantic bathroom are important.  Adding a vase of red flowers is a nice romantic touch like you see in the photograph.

     In a romantic bathroom, color is very important.  You should be able to choose a color that you believe is romantic, and this color palette varies for different people.  For some people, burgundies are romantic, but for others blues are romantic.  It is best, however, that when you choose colors, you pick some that are analogous.  This means that they are next to one another on the color wheel.  Using different color tones that are from the same family of colors adds a soothing effect to your bathroom. 

    For fixtures, you are probably going to want a nice big soaking tub, especially one big enough for two to enjoy.  The furniture should be up to you.  Pick what looks great and makes you happy.  The scent of a romantic bathroom is very important.  You should experiment with different potpourris and scented candles to find a scent that you love.  Music is also a great touch in the bathroom for a romantic feeling.
